A contemporary Cuban classic, the Montecristo Edmundo is renowned for its enormous "heavy gauge" vitola and rich, well-balanced character. It was named after Edmond Dantès, the main character in Alexandre Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo, and debuted in 2004 as the first new size in the Montecristo line since 1971.
One of the first cigars to spearhead Cuba's shift to thicker ring gauges in the twenty-first century was the Edmundo.
First Third: Signed in the beginning Cocoa, roasted coffee, and cedar are Montecristo flavours. A "cappuccino and hazelnut" creaminess with subtle roasted scents
Second Third: Deeper earth and spice layers are developed in the profile. There may be a noticeable "damp undergrowth" tone that occasionally has fern or mushroom undertones
Last Third: With stronger earthiness and more noticeable black pepper, the intensity increases. Usually, Montecristo's distinctive "bittersweet" trademark comes in the end.
