First Third: Begins with a spicy rush of white or black pepper, which soon fades into notes of sweet cedar, vanilla, and roasted nuts (almond or pistachio). Also frequently observed is a faint citrus flavour that is evocative of a traditional Cuban profile.

Second Third: Coffee beans, dirt, and leather become dominant notes as the profile deepens into a thick, creamy mouthfeel. A stronger maple or brown sugar note replaces the sweetness, which is expertly counterbalanced by the earthy core.

Last Third: As the strength increases, it pushes into the entire range. In addition to a return of the black pepper spice and a rich mineral earthiness that persists on the finish, stronger aromas of wood and dark toast predominate.
