Perhaps the most famous Cuban Robusto is the Partagas Serie D No. 4, which is praised for its earthy, deep character and powerful body. Since its initial release in the 1930s, it has been a mainstay for enthusiasts and is a fundamental component of the Habanos "Alphabet Series".
Regularly rated highly, Cigar Aficionado and other major journals give it 92 to 94 ratings.
The cigar is highly known for its powerful, nuanced, and "well-balanced" taste development.
First Third: Delivers flavours of espresso, black pepper, and cedar, opening with traditional Partagas intensity. The original spice is frequently given a silky backbone by a "creamy, earthy sweet" Cuban taste.
Second Third: The profile gets deeper and more intricate. Strong hints of dark chocolate, roasted almonds, and leather come through. Additionally, some reviewers pick up on faint notes of cinnamon, honeyed tea, and even "musty vegetal" undertones.
Last Third: Sturdy layers of earth, molasses, and spice give it its strongest point. As it finishes long and fulfilling, the pepper may come back more strongly, joined by aromas of toasted sourdough or salted peanuts.
