Nose: Large, Smokey, powerful peat notes open this. Along with a significant amount of salt, there are spices and liquorice. Recent years have seen a tiny sweetness in this whisky, which has a lovely scent amid the traditional iodine/sticking plasters and cool wood smoke we adore.
Palate: dominated by seaweed, with hints of vanilla ice cream and more than a touch of first aid box notes (TCP, plasters, etc.). As you hold this whisky over your tongue, the large oak pushes its way into the fore. Spices like cardamom, black pepper, and chilli become more popular.
Finish: Large and drying, with an iodine complexity as the tarry, savoury flavours intensify.
