Nose: A hint of peach polish, oak spice, pear skins, golden syrup, and malty notes. From the freezer, it gets chewy with sticky toffee, sultanas, redcurrant, and an intense burst of green apple, apple sauce, and toffee apple. Rich, sticky, and complex.
Palate: Warming peppery spices, Big Red cinnamon, crisp apple, and orange peel. Out of the freezer, the honey and spices are much more controlled and kept in check, while the fresh apple flesh and orange peel notes really stand out.
Finish: From the freezer, the finish highlights the palate's room-temp spicy cinnamon and peppercorn heat. These notes become even more prominent alongside allspice, nutmeg, and smoky malt. A bolder, chilled version of the original spice profile.

The 2015 addition to the Highland distillery's lineup, Dalwhinnie Winter's Gold, was "Crafted by the Cold" as the label states. It was inspired by the cold environment in the isolated region of Scotland where their single malt Scotch whisky is made. Only spirit produced between October and March is used to make it, and oddly, they recommend serving this expression chilled!
