In honour of the 2026 Lunar New Year, Plasencia Cigars launched a limited-edition luxury cigar called the Plasencia Year of the Horse. "El Año del Caballo" is the Spanish name for this sixth entry in the company's Chinese Zodiac series.
Unique Design: Each cigar has a hand-braided tobacco "tail" that extends from the cap and is fashioned to mimic the plaited mane or tail of a horse.
Craftsmanship: The complex braiding technique is a labour-intensive detail that takes twice as long to make as a standard cigar and necessitates exact humidity management to preserve its structural integrity. A third roller must work exclusively on the cap.
Tobacco Blend: The Plasencia family grows and ages all of the tobaccos used in the blend.
First Third: The first draw is distinguished by a smooth, creamy smoke with strong earthy soil, almonds, white pepper, and oak barrel/toasted wood flavours.
Second Third: The profile develops into a more nuanced and well-rounded experience. Deeper, fuller flavours of dark coffee, cedar, and leather appear as the first spice fades. The sweetness of naturally aged tobacco, toasted walnut, chocolate, and aromatic spices like cardamom becomes more noticeable.
Last Third: In the last third, the flavour and body become more intense. The predominant core notes are oak, prune/sun-dried raisins, and dark chocolate/cocoa. The smoke has a powerful, unforgettable finish with a trace of peat and a well-balanced return of pepperiness.
