Peterson's Balkan Mixture is a mild and velvety combination of Latakia. Oriental tobaccos are not included, or at least aren't indicated, despite the name "Balkan Mixture." This does not imply that the blend lacks spice because the perique adds a subtle peppery note to the taste. The smokey woody flavour of the Latakia is immediately noticeable, but it doesn't dominate the sweetness of the Virginia. Together with the Latakia, the Perique takes the stage, offering a soothing peppery bitterness and smokey flair that delights the taste.

Packing the ribbon cut into the dish is nearly straightforward. It has dark tobacco ribbons scattered throughout and is gold brown to chestnut in colour. It's simple to light and maintain the tobacco's flame. The tin has a sweet, somewhat peppery-acetic scent that combines smokey pine and oak.
