The medium-bodied, limited-edition Macanudo French Oak Churchill cigar is well-known for its unusual ageing method, in which part of its binder tobacco is aged in French oak barrels that were once used to produce the acclaimed Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon wine. This gives the combination delicate hints of wine and wood.
First Third: The delicate wine flavours from the barrel ageing are first very prominent, with opening notes of cedar, creamy vanilla, and toasted nuts.
Second Third: Earthy tones and baking spices take centre stage as the wine notes grow more subdued. At this point, the creaminess slightly fades.
Last Third: Remains smooth to the very finish, with hints of oak, mild pepper, and faint sweetness. The experience stays balanced, and the resultant nub is cool.
