Master blender José "Jochy" Blanco creates the La Galera Habano Chaveta Robusto, a premium, medium-to-full-bodied Dominican cigar that is frequently categorised under its Corojo binder line. This particular vitola, which was hand-rolled at the storied Tabacalera Palma plant, pays homage to the common cutting tools the factory rollers employed.
First Third: Cream and SpiceFirst Draw: The palate is awakened by a rush of pungent black pepper. Settling in: The spiciness transforms into a foundation of creamy cedar. Undertones: There are hints of natural tobacco sweetness and roasted almonds.
Second Third: Earth & Leather Core Shift: Deep earthy and leathery overtones replace the smoothness. Retrohale: The nose tingles with a consistent white pepper spice. Complexity: The profile is kept complex by hints of dark cocoa and herbal notes.
Last Third: Sturdy Wood and Spice Power Peak: The experience becomes rich and full-bodied as the body intensifies. The predominant notes are dark, bitter espresso and heavy burnt oak. Finish: For a warm, lingering finish, the black pepper makes a forceful comeback on the tongue.
