One of the most well-known contemporary cigars is the La Flor Dominicana Andalusian Bull, which was named Cigar Aficionado's #1 Cigar of the Year in 2016.
Litto Gomez and his son Tony made this cigar in honour of Gomez's homeland in Andalusia, Spain. A historic cigar mould found in Belgium served as the inspiration for its distinctive, enormous "figurado" shape.
First Third: The experience gets off to a daring but unexpectedly well-balanced start. Core Flavours: Cedar, leather, and hickory are prominent early notes. Subtle Accents: You can experience a "three-course" taste of bread/graham crackers, salt, and honey sweetness. Spice: On the initial few puffs, bright red pepper flakes are frequently visible, but they soon fade into a subtle background spice.
Second Third: The body of the cigar gets rounder and fuller as it reaches its widest point (64 ring gauge).Evolution of Sweetness: A deeper caramel or toffee note frequently replaces the initial honey. Complex Spices: Cardamom, cumin, and saffron combine to create a distinctive, savoury spice blend. Transitions: During this stage, creamier textures and undertones of citrus or orange peel often take the place of the pepper flavours, which often fade or vanish.
Final Third: The ring gauge tapers back down as the intensity and strength increase dramatically in the last step. The Return of Spice: On the tongue and palate, black pepper frequently "comes charging back" with fresh strength.Darker Profiles: Heavy earth, dark chocolate, and triple espresso become more prevalent. The Finish: A lengthy, lingering finish is produced by the profile's rich, meaty flavours, which are sometimes described as burnt oak or savoury hickory.
