A well-known benchmark Robusto, the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 is a mild-to-medium-bodied Cuban cigar with a smooth, delicate, and complex flavour profile. It is a great option for both novices to premium cigars and seasoned connoisseurs who need a lighter smoke.
These tobaccos come exclusively from the well-known Vuelta Abajo tobacco zone, which is recognised for having the best leaves in Cuba.
The first third
The first stage is quite light and gentle, emphasising pure, delicate tastes. Light cedar, a characteristic creamy mouthfeel, and a clean, natural tobacco sweetness are the main notes. There are frequently hints of tea and a mild, occasionally revitalising, grassy or vegetal scent.
Second third
The flavours in the cigar's centre retain their mild strength but gradually intensify. The creaminess intensifies, blending with vanilla, almond or cashew nut flavours, and a hint of caramel or honey sweetness. The backdrop is always cedar, with sporadic notes of dark chocolate or light coffee beginning to show.
Last Third
Though still mild in comparison to most cigars, the flavours get a little stronger in the latter third. As the constant cedar and nuttiness mingle in, earthy notes become more noticeable. Alongside a little richer, more complex cream and wood character, a delicate, pleasant spice may appear, providing a soft warmth on the finish.
