Gurkha has launched a number of affordable, "grandfathered" lines in various mixes under the Gurkha Castle Hall trademark, which alludes to a historic Cuban brand from 1903. The Castle Hall Nicaragua (Habano) and the Castle Hall Dominican (Connecticut) are the two main contemporary releases.
First Third: A noticeable black pepper spiciness and a touch of sweetness counterbalance the strong earth and cedar flavours.
Second Third: Hints of dark chocolate or espresso join the earthiness as leather notes appear and meld with the spice.
Final Third: Deep earth, a spicier finish, and a fuller, full-bodied blend of oak and cedar deepen the flavours while keeping the balance throughout.
