Appearance: A deep ruby-garnet shade that is strong and totally opaque.

Nose: Warm notes of black tea, orange rind, tobacco, and peppery spice mingle with jammy raspberry and blackberry fruit in this incredibly nuanced and vivid nose.

Palate: Mouth-coating, round, and luxuriously smooth. It has strong, rich flavours of molasses, dried fig, wild dark berries, and plum that are carefully counterbalanced by firm, velvety tannins and hints of dark chocolate.

The Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) Port 2005 from W. & J. Graham is a rich, full-bodied fortified wine that perfectly captures the sweet, rich house style of Graham. An LBV is aged in seasoned oak vats for four to six years before bottling (usually in 2010 or 2011 for the 2005 vintage), in contrast to traditional Vintage Ports that are bottled after just two years. The 2005 vintage was totally accessible and ready to drink as soon as it was commercially released because of the prolonged wood-ageing process, which allows the wine to soften and mature much earlier.

The Sub-Region: The hard terrain of the Cima Corgo sub-region, the sweet spot for premium Port grapes, provided all of the grapes for this 2005 vintage. The Flagship Properties: Graham's two most well-known estate vineyards, Quinta dos Malvedos (renowned for producing extraordinarily ripe, flowery, and structured wines) and Quinta das Lages, provide the foundation of the 2005 blend. The Terroir: The vines are grown on striking, steep terraces carved out of the hillsides of schist rock. The Douro River's distinctive atmosphere of hot, dry days and cool nights enables the grapes to reach their ideal ripeness and concentrated sugars.
