Taylor's 10 Year Old Tawny Port is regarded as the industry standard for the 10-year category and is a benchmark example of wood-aged port. This non-vintage blend, made by the renowned Taylor Fladgate house, is made from excellent wines that have been matured in seasoned oak casks that carry about 630 litres apiece for an average of ten years. The wine oxidises slowly and under control throughout its ten years on oak. Its forceful berry fruit flavours are replaced by smooth, rich, nutty qualities, and its youthful, impenetrable purple colour is transformed into a delicate amber-brick tint.
No Decanting Needed: Before bottling, it is filtered and allowed to fully age in wood. It may be poured immediately and has no sediment or heavy natural crust. Like all aged tawnies, it is best served slightly chilled (12–16°C/54–60°F), which brings out the brightness of the fruit flavours and lessens the warmth of the alcohol.
