First Third: The Initial Notes: Fresh hay, mild dirt, and cedar. The Experience: The cigar begins with traditional Montecristo qualities. Smooth, creamy, and rather sharp, the profile has a subtle sweetness that is evocative of roasted almonds and vanilla. The retrohale has a faint hint of white pepper, but it's still very accessible.

Second third: The Core Dominant Notes: Espresso, rich leather, and bitter cocoa. The Experience: As the body firmly moves into the medium-to-full range, the flavours become much more complex. A much earthier, darker character replaces the initial sweetness. This half of the cigar is the most complex and well-balanced, with notes of toasted wood and a distinct layer of savoury baking spices over the cocoa.

The final third. Dark cocoa, thick earth, and black pepper are the predominant notes. The Experience: This is where the strength reaches its pinnacle and approaches a 4 out of 5. The smoke gets considerably stronger, warmer, and thicker. The palate is left with a strong, lasting spice as the woodsy flavours deepen into a burnt oak. Slowing down your puffs will maintain the creamy, praline-like finish because smoking too rapidly can make it scorching.
