A distinctively thick and reasonably priced Cuban cigar, the Jose L. Piedra Petit Caballeros provides a rustic, medium-to-full-bodied smoking experience. This short-filler cigar (Tripa Corta, Totalmente a Mano) is rolled entirely by hand, in contrast to the machine-made Cohiba Club. Because its tobacco is farmed only in the Remedios region (Vuelta Arriba), it has a simple, country-style flavour profile instead of the sophisticated creaminess of a premium Cohiba, marking a significant departure from traditional Cuban characteristics.

Because it uses short-filler tobacco (chopped premium leaves), the flavours don't have a complex evolution; instead, they blend together fast and remain linear.

First Third: begins right away with barnyard hay, raw cedar, and heavy, overpowering soil. The nose is assaulted hard with white pepper.

Second Third: Layered over thick leather and a hint of cinnamon spice, the centre shows a little rustic roasted peanut butter flavour.

Last Third: Deepens considerably into heavy charred wood, cocoa nibs, and dark espresso beans. If puffed too soon, it may turn bitter or harsh.
