Sweet Virginias, Burley, and a healthy dose of double-fermented Black Cavendish are blended together to create Gawith Hoggarth's Spirit of Scotland (American Whisky), which is then moderately topped with whisky. When combined with the whisky, the subtle flavours of caramel and vanilla produce a flavour that is somewhat reminiscent of bourbon. The sweetness is perfectly balanced with a hint of bitterness.

The blend's colouration is primarily black with sporadic golden brown ribbons. It smells of rich caramel and smooth whisky, with hints of dried fruit. The coarse cut is easy to deal with and moist without becoming soggy. It burns completely and evenly, leaving behind dry ash, and it starts easily.
