The Diadem Conviction at Chateau Robusto is a complex, medium-bodied cigar that is hand-rolled in the Dominican Republic using Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos with an Ecuadorian Habano 2000 wrapper. It is praised for its smooth burn and changing earthy, coffee, and cocoa aromas.
The first third
The first stage starts with faint scents of mild coffee and cocoa. A subtle cedar flavour and a trace of white pepper spiciness on the retrohale counterbalance the inherent sweetness. The smoke has a well-balanced tone thanks to its general pleasant and inviting feel.
The second third
The flavours get richer and more complex as the cigar ages. The earthiness and smooth, creamy mouthfeel are joined by the increasingly noticeable dark chocolate and espresso aromas. The spiciness becomes much milder and the coffee and chocolate flavours take front stage as the sweetness changes into a subtle molasses or brown sugar.
Last Third
The flavours and power somewhat increase in the last third. Rich dark coffee and leather combine with the soil notes as they grow more noticeable. A gratifying, full-flavored, long finish that is powerful without being harsh may result from a modest return of the peppery spice.
