Diehl & Cornell Latakia and Turkish tobacco are added to a Virginia base blended with rum to create the rich and complex pipe tobacco blend known as Black Frigate. By pressing it into a crumble cake, the tastes are given time to meld and develop.

Rum: The natural tobacco flavour is complemented by a little sweet but not overbearing rum sweetness.

Woody and smoky: The Turkish tobacco contributes earthy, woody, and spicy notes, while the Latakia adds a pleasing smokiness.

Sweet Virginia base: Early in the smoke, the creamy richness of the rum-soaked Virginias is very apparent.

Buttery Orientals: The Turkish leaf, in particular, adds a dry, sharp edge that melds well with the other ingredients.
