The Oscar Valladares Santiago Valladares Hermoso is a high-end cigar that was introduced as a limited-edition product for the European market in late 2023. This cigar, which is named in honour of Oscar Valladares' son Santiago, represents a change in the brand's style by using individual "coffins" and traditional wooden box packaging instead of the rustic tobacco-leaf wrapping found in the well-known Leaf by Oscar line.
The Santiago Valladares Hermoso offers a well-rounded, dynamic experience with a hint of Honduran sweetness. The breakdown by thirds is shown here.
The "Sweet & Spicy" Beginning in the First Third
White pepper and cedar touch the cigar right away as it first opens. The smoke texture has a noticeable creaminess, and the Honduran wrapper is known for its mild honey or caramel taste.
The "Earthy" Core is the second third.
The profile gets richer and more grounded as the initial spiciness calms. A toasted wood flavour emerges from the deeper cedar tones. As the sweetness changes to a dark cocoa, you'll begin to notice earthy overtones and a little roasted nuttiness (think cashews or almonds).
The "Robust" Finish in the Final Third
The strength increases a little on the home stretch. The pepper is back, but now it tastes more like a bite of black pepper. The sweetness gives way to a more savoury, leather, and espresso finish as the wood notes take center stage. It remains smooth, yet the palate is left with a lingering warmth.
